Life, like catching a waterfall in a teacup.

Morpho Therapy

We’re all human. Sometimes people like to throw scientific processes and literature in our faces, forgetting that we’re more than an explanation of of chemical imbalances, behavioral dilemmas, painful histories, goals and dreams, sensations mixed with emotions, relationships in and out of harmony, addictive patterns to cope with loneliness, hard-wiring of intense biological parenting, sorrows of past failures, anxieties of hopeless futures, betrayals of expectations, systemic imprisonments filled with stigma and blame, or any other reality we may come face to face with, even those of the most terrifying hallucinatory and delusional natures.

We’re all in this together. My name is Doctor Nicholas Edward Buekea and I share in the story of the human struggle toward growth and transformation. I have schizophrenia and was first diagnosed after going through psychosis when I was in my early twenties. I come from a lineage of island healers, of Micronesia. My father also heard and saw things that most people couldn’t.

Along this therapeutic voyage we will venture through the stages of metamorphosis, exploring family history in context, what you came from and who you were as a baby (larva) innocent and at the mercy of the throwedness of your creation. When we were babies, we were adapting to our parents’ tonalities of communication, and our first pattern to recognize was that of the heartbeat within the womb.  As infants, the energy that our mother and father provided was crucial to the set-up, and while some set-ups seem unfair and challenging, we must remember that diamonds are formed in some of the most pressurized environments, be them poverty or volatility of violence and drugs.

From the larva stage, we will then explore childhood endeavors as a pupil (pupa) to the lessons learned by our adult mentors and our peers. I am a Native to Oregon, born in Eugene and raised in Portland. For me, the lessons of this culture have taught me to fully accept our LGBTQ+2 brothers and sisters, and to not cast judgment on any faith. For others, we were taught shame and fear. As pupa, we will unravel some of these Western sea voyaging tides of social etiquette, and begin to formulate questions around some of our earliest senses of identity against the norm, and how we came to our convictions and values.

From the pupa state, we will dive into the world of true adulthood, the chrysalis phase, often where we first identify with a true real world crisis, high stakes relationships, and for some psychoses, earning the badge of a formal diagnosis.

We may revisit all three stages continually jumping back and forth throughout our therapeutic voyage, with the intent to gain a deep natural sense of self within the community. The ultimate goal is to take flight as the butterfly 🦋, to see life for what it is and was, as we choose to partake in the freedoms of the soul, within the limits of the sky.

For some, a life of continual hard truth will be key to self, choosing to take fight as the red morpho. For others, a life of flow and acceptance will be key, leaving fate up to a higher power, choosing to go blue.

The ability to become a blur of the cyclical nature of red and blue (free will and fate), the western and eastern philosophies of hard and soft nature, will become smoother throughout our therapeutic endeavors, as we learn when we want to enact or be passive to the world of choice.

Together we will gain a deep sense of volition and become the Royal Purple Butterfly, living with intent, and at peace with the blossom of the world.
